Prateik Babbar Gives An Insight Into His Fitness Regime
Me And My Body: Prateik Babbar

Why the Four More Shots Please-actor hates leg day as the next person you know

Bollywood actor Prateik Babbar is known for his roles in films and series like Four More Shots Please!, My Friend Pinto, Bhaaghi 2, Chhichhore and Dum Maaro Dum. He started his career as a production assistant before making his debut in the 2018 coming-of-age hit, Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na. As passionate as he is about the art of acting, he also works hard to maintain his chiselled body. From a chubby teenager to a buffed-up hunk, Babbar’s fitness journey is inspirational to say the least. The trained martial artist had been weight-training for a decade, until a year ago, when he decided to shift focus towards mix martial arts (MMA) which includes jujitsu, muay thai, boxing and kickboxing. Here is how he stays on track:

A week in fitness

For me it’s very important to be regular. The routine that I follow are — four days of intense weight training that includes hitting and covering all body parts, along with two days of intense mixed martial arts covering all forms of MMA. And post that, a day of complete rest.

The must-have gym equipment for a home gym

I believe it all depends on how much money one wants to spend. But for basic workouts, according to me, one would need a pull-up bar, a punching bag, boxing gloves, resistance bands, and kettle bells. These are pretty much it to hit every body part in a proper manner.

To gain muscles

Muscle gaining is a process. It includes heavier weights and shorter workouts. But most importantly, according to me, diet and consistency is the key. Along with the workout a proper intake [of food] with a balance of high protein, complex carbohydrates, and fibre is a must.

Things to keep in mind when working out

The most important thing while working out is to be persistent with your goal. At the same time, one needs to make sure that they listen to their body — you need to be strong, as well as smart.

A muscle group he loves and hates to work on

To be frank, I have a love-hate relationship with leg days and leg workouts.

His fitness inspiration

I think I am my biggest fitness inspiration. I work hard every day and tend to do better than what I did the previous day.

Top three gym tracks

Music plays an important role during a workout session. My personal favourite tracks, which help me get pumped up are, Hit ‘Em Up and California Love by Tupac.

A fictional character he’d like to work out with

I really wish I could have worked out with King T’challa (Chadwick Boseman) The Black Panther. It would have been great to have him as a workout partner.

Top three cheat meal preferences

I don’t usually cheat on my diets, but when I do, I always indulge in Italian food like pizza, pasta or lasagna.
