Every desi kitchen has it and it’s an integral part of almost every Indian meal

Every desi kitchen has it. It’s an integral part of almost every Indian meal and while it has gotten a bad name amongst some fitness enthusiasts, still others consider it to be one of the most magical items out there.

We’re talking about ghee – clarified butter. Shocking, right? Not if you follow celebrity nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar or have a basic knowledge of the Ayurveda. Diwekar is the go-to person for Bollywood stars like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt and Shahid Kapoor.

In a March 28 post on her Instagram account, Diwekar shared a meal-plan for ‘fitness project 2018’. According to the plan, one must have around eight meals a day – starting with soaked nuts or dry fruits within 15 minutes of waking up and ending with a glass of milk with cashews or gulkand right before sleeping.

What’s surprising is that not only is her meal plan very easy to follow, it also recommends three meals a day with ghee. Check out the plan below:

B-town superstar and fashion icon Kareena Kapoor Khan loves her dal-rice and roti with ghee. That’s not all, the actress also believes that the secret to her flawless skin is clarified butter, reports The Times of India. In fact, on being asked by The Indian Express what her favourite ingredient was, Kapoor was very effusive about all that golden goodness:

“Ghee! I like it on my rice and dal, and on my rotis. Ghee, contrary to what many people believe, has several health benefits. My grandmom is still beautiful in her 80s, and she has eaten ghee all her life. I believe her clear skin is because of all the ghee she has eaten. Ghee also makes your body supple and keeps you energetic.”

“Ghee consists of fat-soluble vitamins, which aid weight loss. Ghee also plays a key role in balancing hormones and maintaining healthy cholesterol. Ghee also has a high heat point, which prevents it from producing free radicals that damage cell function,” said Macrobiotic Nutritionist and Health Practitioner Shilpa Arora to NDTV.

That’s not all – this magical ingredient is also great for intestinal health, clogged nose and more.
