The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s fundraising gala is scheduled to be held on September 13. The committee is waiting for the government’s COVID-19 guidelines, after which it will issue its exact schedule as well. On its official Twitter page, the officials stated, “The 2021 #MetGala—The Costume Institute’s primary source of annual funding—will celebrate the upcoming two-part exhibition “In America” focusing on the history of American fashion and honouring the 75th anniversary of The Costume Institute.”.

According to Vogue, the event will have the “theme of American fashion” in its “first two-part exhibition”. “Part one, “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” will open in the Anna Wintour Costume Center on September 18, 2021, and will remain on display when “In America: An Anthology of Fashion,” opens on May 5, 2022, in the period rooms of the American Wing,” stated Vogue.

Page Six reported that the invite-only event, with solo tickets costing $30,000 and tables for $275,000, has already sold out. The event, which is normally held on the first Monday in May, has been pushed back to back to September 13 in anticipation that things will be more “normal” by then. Timothee Chalamet and Billie Eilish have also made some really stunning appearance in the past, so their fans are excited to see them at the Met Gala 2021.

Fashion designer Tom Ford, Adam Mosseri, and Vogue editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, will also arrive as the evening’s honorary chairs during this year’s Met Gala event. Next spring’s gala is set for already set for May 2, 2022. It will launch the second part of the exhibition titled In America: An Anthology of Fashion. Both parts of the exhibition will close on September 5, 2022.

The black-tie event has seen guests in the likes of Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Kim Kardashian, Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk and CAA’s Bryan Lourd in the last few years. Performers have included Rihanna, The Weeknd and Cher.
