Met Gala is one of the most extravagant and lavish evening hosted on the first Monday of May every year. To raise fund for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City, each year a specific theme is decided, and the guests are expected to choose their fashion accordingly.
This year the theme ‘Camp: Notes On Fashion’, derived from a Susan Sontag essay on the same had guests bring out their most ‘camp’ self. To Anna Wintour the dress code was all about ‘having fun’, and the men surely didn’t disappoint. Leaving the boring and the monotonous aside, the guests channelled the theme to the best of their ability. Here we have a lowdown on the best looks from the MET pink carpet.
Harry Styles & Alessandro Michele
Harry Styles dressed in Gucci, chose a black pussy bow blouse to go with black trousers and accessorized it with a single pearl earring, bending all the gender stereotypes. On the other hand, Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele wore a pink ruffled suit and a jewelled headband.
Billy Porter
Billy Porter was a show stopper of the night as he was carried onto the red carpet by shirtless attendants. The Pose star dressed in a shimmery gold bodysuit and robe by The Blonds looked like an Egyptian pharaoh.
Nick Jonas
Our absolute favourite couple arrived at the ball hand in hand looking exquisite. While Priyanka Chopra Jonas continues to slay as per usual, Nick Jonas surprised us with his fierce fashion choice. He opted for Dior men tux, Chopard jewels, and silver Christian Louboutin shoes.
Darren Criss
The actor went for a black ensemble underneath a bedazzled jacket that has all our attention. He completes the look with heavy blue eyeshadow and blue painted nails.
Michael B. Jordan & Lewis Hamilton
Gentlemen looking dapper and sophisticated. Michael B. Jordon opts for a long black coat and black trousers from Coach while Lewis Hamilton keeps it formal with a black and grey striped suit and a white high neck shirt underneath.
Jared Leto
The actor took fashion “face off” quite literary as he carried his own Gucci human head as he walked the pink carpet. Dressed in a red high neck gown by Gucci, he added jewel encrusted body chain and shoulder pads.
Cody Fern
The House Of Cards actor sports a beige suit and wears a sheer black overlay with black gloves. The bright blue turtleneck and cowboy boots escalated the otherwise moderate look.
Cole Sprouse
Cole Sprouse donned a red sleeveless suit printed overall with flowers and added a sheer beige overlay underneath. He went simple on the accessories using a thin string tied in the shape of a bow and completes the look with tan shoes.
Liam Hemsworth
Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus attend the Met Gala as an officially married couple for the first time and made heads turn. Liam matched with his wife’s sequin striped dress as he showed off his sturdy body dressed in black from head to toe.
Omari Hardwick
Styled in a Dapper Dan outfit, Omari Hardwick totally slayed at his first Met Ball. The actor wore a textured light green three-piece suit with brown leather shoes looking absolutely decorous.
Travis Scott
When it comes to serving looks, this power couple never disappoints. Kylie Jenner looked stunning in a lavender feathered dress while Travis went for a military-inspired look, sticking to the theme.
Benedict Cumberbatch
The Sherlock Holmes actor looked supremely elegant as he sported a white three-piece suit for the Ball accompanied by his wife Sophie Hunter.
Justin Theroux
The actor looks sharp in an all-black Louis Vuitton outfit. Keeping up with the theme, he went for leather pants making him look fierce.
Joe Jonas
Making their red carpet debut as an officially married couple, Joe and Sophie looked graceful in their coordinated Louis Vuitton outfit by Nicolas Ghesquiere.
