Rani by Raja, Kshitij Kankaria and Aishwarya Subramanyam discuss ways to make Indian fashion global

This Saturday was all about fashion at Cecconi’s Mumbai as it hosted the second edition of its monthly series “Fashion For Brunch”. For this month they had the UK based fashion brand Rani by Raja and creative director Kshitij Kankaria in conversation with Aishwarya Subramanyam, deputy editor of Vogue, India.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The discussion at Mumbai’s Cecconi’s on 18th May was on the lines of their take on Indian fashion from a global as well as local point of view.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Kshitij Kankaria made his debut at the Lakme Fashion Week SR17 and has already being labelled as the ‘Next Big Thing’ in the fashion industry. He is on his way to the top of the fashion industry. His creative journey has been quite stimulating till now which includes stints with some of the esteemed fashion magazines.

 

The brand, Rani by Raja, although based in the UK, has its base rooted deep in Indian craft. Rani by Raja spans continents and creates clothes with an open mind and wild imagination. Its all about opportunities for women around the world.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Kankaria and Rani by Raja have united behind a common goal, to smash and subvert the stereotypes of Indian Fashion. They aim to balance tradition with modernity and are thus, trying to get an outlook of Indian fashion from a western perspective and vice versa. They strive to globalize Indian fashion and open the eyes of the world to what India has to offer by showcasing a new narrative of Indian-inspired fashion and style. They discussed the commercial side to creativity and highlighted some of the top global fashion brands to focus on.
