Earlier this month, Onitsuka Tiger unveiled its Fall/Winter ’19 collection in Bangkok, Thailand with creative director Andrea Pompilio in attendance. Taking inspiration from ‘Downtown Rave’ parties of the 90s, the brand launched sneakers and athleisure wear in bold prints and logos. We saw a bunch of oversized jackets, quilted outers in neon hues that should be your go-to when the temperatures drop. The retro-futuristic vibe translated to the sneakers too. Chunky sneakers with OT’s logo were a standout.
Now the brand has announced its plan to collaborate with seven famous designers from Japan and abroad on capsule collections to be released this year. The first phase of this project is a collaboration with CINOH designer Takayuki Chino, who is renowned for clothing that’s playful yet mature. “The design is nobleness, yet also has a chic ambience,” says Takayuki Chino. “To this, I’ve added ease of movement, along with a combination of the Onitsuka Tiger standard colours of tri-colour and the distinctive “CINOH” signature colours of white and navy to give this collaboration a distinctive look.”
