Here’s A Quick Look At Onitsuka Tiger’s Autumn/Winter ’22 Collection

The collection pays tribute to the ’80s, and attempts to combine the Japanese aesthetic of “purity and austerity” with a contemporary aesthete

For their Autumn/Winter 2022 collection Japanese brand, Onitsuka Tiger curated a visual campaign For their Autumn/Winter 2022 collection, Japanese brand, Onitsuka Tiger curated a visual campaign based on the concept of ‘Shadow,’ using monotone colours. Earlier this year, they showcased it at the Milan Fashion Week, which took place in January, 2022.. 

 

The collection pays tribute to the ’80s, and attempts to combine the Japanese aesthetic of “purity and austerity” with a contemporary aesthete, for example, by layering the Japanese ceremonial dress. The idea is to create a style that is expressive and genderless.

In addition to the ultra-oversized T-shirts made of heavy cotton and graphically embroidered kaftans, the other distinctive embellishments in the collection include the flame and flower prints on the hems of apparel items. The collection has a slightly gothic edge to it, with a modern rock star vibe and it comes through in their velour and mini dresses, which come with a drawstring at the waist. These can be layered with nylon jackets, maxi Bermuda pants, midi-length pleated skirts, and multi-pocketed waistcoats, and balaclavas. 

 

This time, for footwear, Onitsuka Tiger has introduced the PETALTM model, which is a classic court-style shoe with an ankle-height upper that complements a wide range of styles. While the ACROMOUNTTM KNIT model, with a subtle print accent on a minimalist, simple design, symbolises the theme of the collection.
