Bored of the plain vanilla blues and the blacks? Here are the new trends to choose from, the next time you are looking for a pair of jeans.
Distressed
There was a time when distressed or ripped jeans were worn only by a certain type of person – now they’re everywhere, in every possible fit, and they’re considered a high-fashion garment. Unlike in the past, when ripped meant minor abrasions and scratches with patches stitched on from the inside, the trend now is for large, revealing slashes and holes, particularly around the knees. They are considered chic enough to be worn for every occasion, except perhaps for a formal dinner or a job interview.
Relaxed
The relaxed fit never really went out of fashion, except that it was usually stored in the back shelves of denim stores and bought by your father, while you were rifling through the collection in the front. It has become much more trendy now, and comes with a variety of add-ons.
Embellished
Decorations on jeans was once strictly for women, but not any more. Men are increasingly embracing their feminine side and gravitating towards jeans and jackets with embellishments in the form of screws, spikes, rhinestones, studs, and other kinds of embroidery. In fact, Diesel (through their Denim Master Studio) and Pepe (Custom Studio) now offer customers the opportunity to customise their denim with decorations of their choice, at select stores across the country.
White
It adds variety to your wardrobe, but is not the best colour for our dusty conditions, so you’re best off saving them for special occasions.
