Gucci’s emphasis on DIY – Do It Yourself – personalisation service in recent years has been born from the idea of self-expression where customers are invited to create customized Gucci items that reflect their personalities. Among others, the programme has extended to men’s tailoring, sneakers, and signature bag styles of the House.
The latest in Gucci’s Do-It-Yourself service comes right in time for winter season. The brand is now allowing customers to create knits for men and women by way of hand embroidering inlaid letters on the garments. Pullovers, cardigans, and bomber jackets can all be customised, making it a perfect gift this season.
Gucci’s creative director, Alessandro Michele, in his ongoing love for art, has collaborated with six artists to celebrate the collection. Angela Deane’s friendly ghosts, Isabella Cotier’s portrait style illustrations, and artist and illustrator Marc Burkhardt’s richly detailed creations featuring a gorilla and a tiger all feature knits from the collection.
Going by the House staple, the collection comes in four base colours (green, blue, red and white) with three styles interchangeable for men or women. What makes the knits unique? The customized decoration is incorporated into the knitted body, rather than being appliquéd through the use of patches. To help you better imagine the final output, selected Gucci stores now have a special augmented reality app for its customers.
