California – the name itself conjures up visions of sunshine, the coast, picturesque houses by the sea and beautiful people. For Spring/Summer 2019, BOSS has looked to the western USA state, taking inspiration from its famed lifestyle. The smooth overlap of the beach and metropolitan life are brought together under the title California Breeze.

The tailoring is clean cut but totally relaxed, with typical West Coast vibes. This is achieved thanks to easy-going silhouettes, lightweight fabrics and sportswear elements, all done in a soft palette of blush, blue and grey, with touches of navy. The men’s suits have softened structures, in crinkled cotton and paper-touch cloth.

Manufactured at BOSS’ technical centre in Germany, the suits are crafted from cotton, which has been crinkled by hand – a finish that is retained by the use of metallic fibres in the fabric. Adapting refined tailoring with a relaxed energy, a navy suit gets a relaxed silhouette with elongated lapels.

Underneath, beach-inspired camp-collar shirts and easygoing point-collar styles are elevated in Italian silk twill, while drawstring trousers introduce an athletic element. Combining modern and traditional craft, laser-cut suede vest tops are hand-finished by leather artisans to ensure every detail is perfect.

Completing the ensembles, the outerwear is clean-cut and sporty, ready to protect from the coastal breeze. Men’s Harrington jackets and trench coats are cut from technical nylon; the essential nylon bomber gets a new look, courtesy of a blush shade and elongated knitted cuffs.

Accessories include soft leather totes and eyelet detail duffle bags, and rubberized derby shoes that round out the tailored menswear collection, while for men, leather sandals complete the quintessential Californian vibe.
