Balenciaga is set to unveil a glow-in-the-dark capsule collection.

Creative Director Demna Gvasalia has designed a glow-in-the-dark capsule that features T-shirts, pool slides, caps, and socks, decked out in glowing logos.

The collection is a perfect transformation from day to night. For its t-shirts, the design is barely visible before their motifs are exposed to a light source. However, once the pieces are exposed to any light source, the glow-in-the-dark prints and designs will be activated. The Smiley face designs appear in a neon green hue, making it look like the faces were drawn onto the tee.

Signature double-B Balenciaga logos appear on the tops as well, only glowing at night. The same detail, along with the smiley face design, has been added to the brand’s sliders, baseball caps, and socks. All products emit the same neon green associated with other glow-in-the-dark products.

Balenciaga earlier teased the collection with an Instagram post. It showed a model sporting glowing teeth as if they had just been whitened. Take a look at it below.

The brand is known for introducing its collections in a different manner. Balenciaga’s Fall/Winter 2021 was showcased through a video game.

This decision came after departure from the classical show format which has dominated fashion for the past century, where brands strive to develop new visual ways to showcase their creativity in the midst of the ongoing Covid pandemic. Balenciaga itself chose to skip the most recent Paris Fashion Week of Spring/Summer season.

“It sets a record for the largest volumetric video project ever undertaken,” the brand continued to explain. “The game’s environments and characters use cutting edge photogrammetry to create an in-depth look at the new collection and the projected future in which it is intended to be worn. A theme of Balenciaga Fall ’21 is human destiny, as seen by an interactive, gamified journey, where a hero avatar advances throughout distinct zones,” Balenciaga explained.
