As the capital gears up for a grand fashion spectacle, here is everything you need to know about the Lakme Fashion Week

Lakme Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI has kickstarted its October edition at Delhi’s Pragati Maidan. The 5-day showcase— from October 11 to 15— opened with a grand unveil by Raw Mango on October 10, with an interpretation of Lakmé’s Glitterati collection presented by Lakmé, FDCI, and RBL.

 

All shows will be live-streamed across the platform’s OTT partners Jio Cinema and Jio TV and Lakmé, LFW, and FDCI social media channels for Indian and global audiences. For those wanting to get all the juice on what awaits, scroll further down:

October 11th – Day 1: INIFD’s GenNext Program

 

The INIFD GenNext program is widely known for nurturing young design talents, with this year’s winners being Arnav Malhotra, Sonam Khetan, and Prasoon Sharma. The designers will be presenting their collections on Day 1, alongside prominent designers like Ashish Soni, Samant Chauhan and Varun Bahl, followed by the grand finale by couturier Tarun Tahiliani who will be showcasing his luxe pret AW 2023 collection.

 

October 12 – Day 2: Sustainable Fashion Takes the Stage

Lakme Fashion Week has been pioneering the sustainable fashion move in the country since 2012, and it’s no different this year. The Sustainable Fashion Day on October 12 will feature designers, Amit Gupta and Swatti Kapoor, with Gupta’s collection inspired by ‘The Age of Urban Reforestation’ and Kapoor’s ‘Sahaara’ collection by the vast desert landscapes. Also, ‘Masters of Minimalism’ David Abraham and Rakesh Thakore will present their ‘Body Language’ collection, a fusion of modern communication and fashion. Their artistic collection challenges conventional communication norms and the celebrates diversity of a multitude of Indian languages.

 

Day 3 – October 13: Street Style and More

Day 3 kicks off with an exciting show by Son of Noble’s (SNOB), presenting ‘SADAK CHAP’ inspired by Indian street style. A unique collaboration between German footwear brand Birkenstock and Avant-Garde designers Shivan and Narresh promises to be a refreshing twist. The day concludes with Designer Amit Aggarwal’s ‘Core’ collection, promoting gender fluidity and sustainability through upcycled materials.

 

Day 4 – October 14: High-Fashion Extravaganza

 

Designer Tarun Tahiliani’s pret luxury label, Tasva, in partnership with Aditya Birla groups, is slated to unveil its first collection in the week. Renowned designer duo, Falguni and Shane Peacock will also be showcasing their collection.

Day 5 – October 15: Celebrating Creativity

 

Designer Pawan Sachdeva presents ‘INFINITY,’ a collection that’s inspired by the magic and endless potential of the vast universe. Designer duo Sonam and Paras Modi (SVA) mark their 10th year in the industry with the ‘Safar’ collection, which meshes bohemian textures with modern silhouettes.

Park Avenue’s Evolution

 

Park Avenue, a pioneer in men’s fashion since 1986, and a popular brand in the Indian retail space is introducing a refreshed take on casual wear, combining style and functionality. Their collection offers a range of clothing for various occasions, from casual days at work to special dates.

Grand Finale by Bibhu Mohapatra

 

Indian designer Bibhu Mohapatra, who operates out of the USA and is also known for dressing influential women worldwide, will showcase his ‘Come Home’ collection in the House of Lakmé Grand Finale on October 15. This season’s House of Lakmé Grand Finale is a story of firsts, dedicated to empowering the unapologetic Indian woman. Bibhu Mohapatra’s show of 75 looks promises to be a mesmerizing blend of classic and contemporary beauty and fashion, highlighting the enduring spirit of Indian women. It showcases timeless design and colours on and off the runway.
