Almost three months after Reliance Chairman, Mukesh Ambani announced that the company plans to foray into electronics, fashion, pharmaceutical, and healthcare, e-commerce venture JioMart has expanded beyond their grocery segment and added a fashion category on their online portal and app for men, women, boys, kids, and infants with limited brands.
According to media reports, JioMart’s latest venture would take on the likes of Amazon and Flipkart who are already major players in the e-commerce segment.
“Within a few weeks of launch, JioMart has already delivered over 400,000 orders on a single day, which is significantly higher than any other grocery home delivery company,” Reliance had said in a statement announcing its Q1 results in July.
According to the Financial Express, the e-commerce retailer currently competes with Alibaba-backed BigBasket, SoftBank-funded Grofers, Amazon Pantry, and Walmart-owned Flipkart Supermart in the digital grocery war.
The company is also slated to list electronic goods on its platform next if media reports are to be believed.
