Jaden Smith has taken the covers off his first signature silhouette in partnership with New Balance.
Dubbed the ‘Vision Racer,’ Smith’s first ever sneaker collaboration, is more than just a fashion statement. The shoe is more of a symbol of Smith’s commitment towards making sustainable choices when it comes to fashion.
The Vision Racer is constructed with recycled products and vegan-friendly materials. The shoe’s upper is a mixture of various materials, all scraped out of recycled polyesters that come from post-consumer plastic. The insoles are created with a combination of everything from castor bean oil to recycled foam, rubber and polyurethane.
The design of the Vision Racer follows the chunky dad shoe aesthetic, but still holds enough visual elements to distinguish itself from a sea of chunky shoes. Perhaps the most eye-grabbing design choice is the exaggerated, chunky midsole split into three rectangular blocks. The outsole is another interesting area since it boasts a bold pink “((VISION))” embellishment. Apart from that, you’ll find Smith’s signature on the insoles, the traditional N on the quarter panel.
Priced at $150 USD, the Jaden Smith x New Balance Vision Racer releases on New Balance’s official webstore on July 24.
