Despite what the headlines say, streetwear culture is alive and thriving. Over the last few weeks, there have been dime a dozen sneaker collaborations, ranging from Carhartt x Converse to the new The Action Bronson x New Balance collab. To get on top of all the action, here are the five major ones from the week.
Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance
Teddy Santis can do no wrong it seems. Founder of Aimé Leon Dore and New Balance MADE in USA creative director, Santis was instrumental in popularising the “dad sneaker” range a few years ago, propelling New Balance to billion-dollar revenue. Following up on it, his new collection now features a mix of white and grey colours, with ALD branding spread across the tongue, the sock liner and the lateral forefoot of the upper.
Carhartt WIP x Converse New CONS Pack
With workwear getting its day in mainstream fashion, Carhartt has gone through a major renaissance of sorts. Doubling down on its recent popularity, the brand has partnered with Converse for a new CONS Pack. Updating both the classic Chuck Taylor Pro and One Star Academy Pro, they now feature durable suede and reinforced foxing, reflecting Carhartt's workwear heritage. The Chuck Taylor Pro showcases an all-white medial area with the traditional Converse All-Star logo, while the lateral side combines tan and dark brown with a Carhartt tag. Co-branded tongues and insoles, along with a white midsole and outsole, complete the design.
The Action Bronson x New Balance 1906R "Rosewater"
In 2023, Action Bronson made waves in the sneaker scene with his New Balance 990v6 collaboration. Building on this success, he unveiled the 1906R in various colourways, including the upcoming "Rosewater." This version features a pink and white upper with magenta accents on the heel cage and bright yellow laces, complemented by a multicoloured outsole.
While the release date for the "Rosewater" pair hasn't been confirmed, it's expected to drop in 2024 via Baklava, New Balance, and select retailers.
MM6 Maison Margiela x Salomon X-ALP Collection
MM6 Maison Margiela and Salomon have teamed up again, this time in a rather subtle form. The X-ALP model with elegant black-and-white and all-black colour schemes. Retaining the original silhouette, the X-ALP features a thick rubber toe guard, midfoot overlay, and Contagrip mud tread. The black-and-white version combines a white mesh upper with a tan suede forefoot and black overlays, while the all-black pair is completely tonal with subtle branding. No release date has been announced, but the collection is expected later this year, alongside the XT-4 Mules.
A Ma Maniére x Air Jordan 3 "Black"
The ball started on the pair rolling at Paris Fashion Week in January, where James Whitner was spotted in a new AMM x Air Jordan 4, and just days later, an AMM x Nike Air Max 95 surfaced. Shortly thereafter, a rumor of another AMM x Air Jordan 3 popped up and a third AMM x Jordan Air Ship appeared.
After an on-foot preview, Hypebeast has published a detailed look at this colourway. Although neither A Ma Maniére nor Jordan Brand has officially announced the release, both the “Black” and “Burgundy Crush” colourways are expected to drop on July 18 via Nike SNKRS.
