Netizens React To Kanye West’s White Lives Matter Shirt
Twitter Unanimously Bash Kanye West’s ‘White Lives Matter’ Shirt At Yeezy Show

Well, well…

Kanye is at it, again. The recently held Yeezy Show drew the wrath of millions after the rapper sported a baggy shirt that had White Lives Matter emblazoned on it. West paired it up with his signature diamond-studded flip-flops. What’s more, it also had a collage of Pope John Paul II!

Kim Kardashian’s ex-husband gave a six-minute speech at the gig, which left the audience queasy for more reasons than one. In the midst of his speech, West averred that his ex-wife Kim Kardashian was robbed in Paris in 2016 and his manager Scooter Braun too had to face challenges during the initial years of his foray into the fashion industry.

Turns out, it wasn’t only Ye who wore the tee. A volley of models were spotted sashaying down the ramp and flaunting the trigger-inducing slogan. And well, they were models of color. Onlookers and fans were irked, and it was clearly reflected in the brutal trolls that flooded social media.

While the Black Lives Matter campaign made headlines for its social relevance, the aforementioned one, in particular, sprouted in 2015 as a hate slogan. Supporters of white supremacist groups used this as a part of the anti-defamation league.

The fashion show was held at a discreet venue and comprised three floors in a circular space. Owing to this, the audience had to stand near the railing to witness the collection. Ye even invited a choir (a children’s group from Ye Academy) to perform at the show, who crooned away as the models flaunted the latest collection. The show is reported to have lasted for twenty minutes, with Naomi Campbell having culminated the show.

One of the attendees was American rapper Jaden Smith, and speculations are rife that Smith made a quick exit when he saw what West wore.

In 2018, West stated that the black community chose to be slaves for 400 years. He eventually apologized for the same and attributed his lapse in judgment to his battle with bipolar disorder. Fast forward to 2022, and Ye repeats history. For all the wrong reasons.
