Think action and the one name that pops into your head is Tom Cruise. The Hollywood icon will now take things multiple notches higher by traveling to outer space for a film in October 2021.
The Space Shuttle Almanac tweeted on Wednesday that reports about the actor shooting the first movie in space aboard the International Space Station (ISS) is coming true. The 58-year-old Cruise will be joined by director Doug Liman next year as part of Elon Musk’s Axiom SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule.
“So its [sic] confirmed that @CommanderMLA is flying the @Axiom_Space @SpaceX #CrewDragon tourist mission with Director @DougLiman & Tom Cruise. One seat still to be filled. They are to launch in October 2021,” the Space Shuttle Almanac’s tweet reads.
They’ll head to the ISS and begin production on the first major movie to ever be shot in space. The movie doesn’t have a title or a plot yet but is rumoured to have a budget of $200 million.
