Ayan Mukerji’s upcoming film Brahmastra has received a lot of attention since it was announced and now that Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor are married, the hype around the film has only gotten bigger. With a budget of over Rs 300 crores – and the movie has been in the making for seven years – is touted to be one of the most expensive movies of 2022. The fantasy drama which relies heavily on VFX brings India’s first original universe – the Astraverse– to the big screen. Brahmāstra Part One: Shiva is India’s attempt to create a superhero franchise.
The film will see Alia Bhatt play Isha and Ranbir Kapoor play Shiva. We can’t wait to see this magnum opus on the big screen.
Ahead of the film’s release, the reported salaries of the leading actors of Brahmastra are doing rounds on the internet. Let’s take a look at the numbers:
Ranbir Kapoor
Ranbir Kapoor is said to have been paid Rs 25-30 crore for the film.
Alia Bhatt
Alia has charged somewhere between Rs 10-12 crores for the movie.
Amitabh Bachchan
As per media reports, the legendary actor will be seen donning a vital role of Lord Brahma. The superstar has charged Rs 8-10 crores for the movie, as per India Today.
Mouni Roy
Mouni Roy, who will be seen in a negative role, has earned a cheque of Rs 3 crore. Talking about her role, the actor told PTI, “I am playing the main villain in the film. I am really looking forward to it. What is more liberating for me is playing different characters that challenge me. I was surprised initially that they wanted me to play the villain. Ayan Mukherji (director) had seen something from Naagin and felt I could play the villain. So, you never know what works with whom. As an actor, you should be willing to experiment and be versatile otherwise you can’t learn and grow.”
Akkineni Nagarjuna
‘Brahmastra’ will mark the comeback of Akkineni Nagarjuna, who was last seen in 2003’s LOC Kargil. He will be portraying the role of an archaeologist and has charged Rs 9-11 crore.
Dimple Kapadia
Veteran actress Dimple Kapadia has earned Rs 1-2 crore for the movie, as per India Today.
The mega-budget movie is slated to hit theaters on September 9th, 2022.
