Whenever we hear that someone from Bollywood is involved with somebody from outside the industry, it offers a glimmer of hope. It is heartening to imagine that the common man can ascend to become the romantic interest of the most desirable people in the country. However, while he is not from the industry itself, Sonam Kapoor’s fiancé Anand Ahuja is far from a common man.

Anand is the grandson of Harish Ahuja, the owner of India’s biggest garment export house; Shahi Exports. Anand himself has gone on to found Bhane, a popular clothing brand which Sonam has been frequently pictured in. He also founded VegNonVeg, India’s first multi-brand sneaker boutique.

The Ahuja family owns a sprawling bungalow on Prithviraj Road in Delhi, in the exclusive LBZ (Lutyens Bungalow Zone). The house cost Rs 173 Crore and sprawls over a 3170 square yard plot. The family business exports to household foreign names including GAP, Tommy Hilfiger, and Abercrombie & Fitch.

Ahuja did his Masters at the prestigious Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania, and then moved back to India to work in the family business in addition to starting his own ventures.
