Shaktimaan To Be Made Into A Movie By Sony
Hrithik Roshan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar—Who Could Be The Next Shaktimaan?

For the uninitiated, Shaktimaan aired from 1997 to the mid-2000s. Mukesh Khanna played the role of the superhero and his alter ego Pandit Gangadhar Vidhyadhar Mayadhar Omkarnath Shastriji in the show.

Shaktimaan is an iconic show that we all watched growing up and were fans of. The superhero show that aired on TV during the ’90s starred Mukesh Khanna in the titular role of the Indian hero. To our surprise, Sony has acquired its rights and the production banner will soon bring the superhero film to the big screen.

Sony made the announcement with an intriguing teaser. “After the super success of our many superhero films in India and all over the globe, it’s time for our desi Superhero,” said Sony Pictures India on Twitter. The teaser featured Gangadhar’s iconic specs, his camera and finally the big reveal—the costume of Shaktimaan.

Now, with a movie on the cards, rumours have started to surface that a famous actor will be playing the iconic role on the big screen. And while no one can ever do what Khanna did with the character, it will be fun to see who will be able to walk in his shoes and take the legacy forward.

Here Are 5 Names We Think Will Be A Perfect Fit

Akshay Kumar

Give this actor any role, and he will nail it. Akshay Kumar has been in a lot of action films and his performance in films like Chandani Chowk to China prove that he could be a good superhero. What also helps is that his demeanour is as close as it can get to Khanna.

Ranveer Singh

Shaktimaan has the word ‘shakti’ in it and there is no one who can match Ranveer Singh’s energy. This actor will add humour, the quirky charm to the iconic character and make it look fresh yet nostalgically cool.

Hrithik Roshan

The Greek God of Bollywood, Hrithik Roshan has already impressed us with his superhero skills in Krrish. But seeing him wear the iconic red suit also seems like a great idea. He surely has what it takes to be a superhero and seeing him beat up some baddies is something all his fans look forward to.

Salman Khan

The Indian superhero requires swag and style and no other than Salman Khan can bring that out beautifully on the screen. We love him in the action avatar and it doesn’t sound like a bad idea to see him wear the superhero costume for once.

Tiger Shroff

Tiger Shroff played India’s youngest superhero in Remo D’Souza’s Flying Jatt. His great physique, flexibility, and him being a well-trained gymnast, makes him a great choice for playing the titular role.

For the uninitiated, Shaktimaan aired from 1997 to the mid-2000s. Mukesh Khanna played the role of the superhero and his alter ego Pandit Gangadhar Vidhyadhar Mayadhar Omkarnath Shastriji in the show. He was a photographer for a newspaper with superpowers. Shaktimaan is often touted to be India’s first superhero series and it was a favourite amongst children.
