With multiple guest appearances, three films in the pipeline and pictures from sets going viral, Shah Rukh Khan fans are keen to see the star back on the big screen. What makes his return even more exciting is his chiselled and new avatar. The 56-year-old actor embarked on a two-year-long journey to get fit as part of his much-awaited role in Pathaan, and now, Khan’s trainer, Prashant Subhash Sawant, has revealed some of the secrets that went behind building this bod.
Sawant, who has been training SRK for 24 years now, spoke about the regimen the star had to follow for the soon-to-release movie. “I have been training Shah Rukh for 24 years; in the last four, we have been working specifically for this film. Since his look in Pathaan is very different, Shah Rukh started doing a lot of lifting heavy. We have incorporated more strength training, which helped him look better and bigger [sic]”
While talking to Indian Express, he said, “It took us two years to build the toned physique you see on screen. His frame and look have completely changed,” adding that the endeavour also included a protein-rich diet. “Everything in the diet was planned and measured — from carbs, to fat, and protein. Transformations are always about teamwork. Despite injuries serving as a setback, he came back stronger by pulling off deadlifts, pull-ups, and working on his core, and legs. His discipline is commendable,” Sawant explained.
Talking about Pathaan, the film is directed by Siddharth Anand. Apart from Khan, the film also features Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. This will mark the King of Bollywood’s return to the big screen after 4 years, and it is set to hit the theatres in January next year.
