Our new Batman isn’t as sneaky as he should be.

Actor Robert Pattinson recently revealed in an interview that he tried hiding the Batman audition from Christopher Nolan, and failed miserably. Pattinson was shooting for Nolan’s film Tenet, and made an excuse to sneak away to head to The Batman‘s audition, but Nolan managed to see right through it.

“It’s funny because Chris is so secretive about everything to do with his movies,” Pattinson told The Irish Times. “And then I had to be really secretive about Batman stuff. So I had to lie to Chris about having to go for a screen test — I said I had a family emergency. And as soon as I said ‘it’s a family emergency’ he said: ‘You’re doing the Batman audition, aren’t you?’”

The Batman, directed by Matt Reeves, halted its production due to the coronavirus pandemic, but is reportedly scheduled to resume in September.
