For the uninitiated, before a film is released in the theatres, a certification is issued by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The certification broadly falls into four categories i.e. U for unrestricted public exhibition, A for content restricted to only adult viewership, U/A for unrestricted public exhibition but viewers below 12 years of age will need adult supervision, and lastly S, which is for a specific audience like scientists and doctors.
