For the fans of The Office, this week’s SNL episode was a special one. Steve Carell was the host of this week and made his former cast-mates from his show, The Office, be part of his monologue.
During the Q&A session, Jenna Fischer, Ed helms and Ellie Kemper who were part of the audience, kept asking Steve to do a reboot of The Office. Kemper screams out saying, “People would really love to see an Office reboot, Especially me, ’cause I really need that money. Let’s get that money, Steve!” Helms stood up and added, “I just don’t think you understand how much money we’re talking about.” Even his wife Nancy Carell and his two kids get involved and told him that they feel he should do it because they don’t really need him to “hang around” anymore.
The whole bit was hilariously structured around how almost everyone except Steve Carell is interested in doing the reboot. From the producers of the show, to lead actors like John Krasinski have said that they’re down to do it, but Steve Carell has been hesitant to go ahead. In an interview, he said, “apart from the fact that I just don’t think that’s a good idea, it might be impossible to do that show today and have people accept it the way it was accepted 10 years ago.”
For fans who were hoping for an Office reboot to happen, maybe just wait a while longer and hope that Steve gets on board. Till that happens, just go ahead and watch all the nine seasons all over again to help you deal with all that disappointment.
