Neena Gupta has always been breaking stereotypes and with Badhaai Ho, the actress made a comeback like never before. The actress opened up about her life, her daughter, her career and made some really bold remarks ever since her return on the screen. The actress has been bagging some really pivotal roles after her stint in the Ayushmann Khurrana film, and is now all set to star opposite megastar, Amitabh Bachchan, in Goodbye. This will be the first time that we will get to see Gupta and Bachchan share screen space, and the veteran actress is more than excited to be a part of the film.
The film which is directed by Vikas Bahl will have Gupta essay the role of Bachchan’s wife. Goodbye, touted as a slice-of-life film, is centred around a funeral. The film also stars South star Rashmika Mandanna in a key role. Talking about her role, Gupta said in a statement, “When Vikas narrated the film to me, I was so happy. It is a wonderful script and one doesn’t think about anything else, when the script is this exciting. Even the role is beautifully written and I am very excited to be sharing the screen space with Mr Bachchan. It is a dream come true for me and I am quite ecstatic about it.” While Big B and Neena Gupta have not worked before, the megastar has previously expressed his fondness for Gupta’s craft in 2018. He had sent her a hand-written note to praise her performance in Badhaai Ho.
Goodbye is backed by Good Co Production, Balaji Telefilms and Reliance Entertainment. The film’s mahurat shot took place in Mumbai on April 1 with Mandanna kickstarting the shoot for the film. Bachchan will join the shoot on April 4. The film also marks Bahl’s reunion with Ekta Kapoor, who have previously collaborated on films like Lootera and Udta Punjab.
