Drake is not very keen on being a part of the upcoming Grammy Awards. The latest buzz is that the singer has withdrawn his nominations from Grammy Awards 2022. After a discussion with his management, the four-time Grammy winner asked the Recording Academy to remove his two nominations from the final-round ballot. The Recording Academy honoured the singer’s request after which his name was removed from the nominee list on its website.

Drake, who was nominated for best rap album for Certified Lover Boy and Way 2 Sexy featuring Future and Young Thug, which earned a nomination for best rap performance, left fans wondering why he took such a decision after all. Neither the Canadian rapper nor his team spoke about the reason behind this step.
However, from what everyone can make of it, it is believed that Drake’s decision was pretty predictable since he had called out the Grammys in previous years. The rapper had shown his resentment for not being nominated outside the rap category. Some speculate that the fact that his name is involved in the lawsuit for the Astroworld Tragedy in Houston last month may also be a reason for this decision.
Drake was also once cut off during his speech at the 2019 Grammys. During his acceptance speech after God’s Plan won the best rap song in 2019, the singer was interrupted before he could finish his speech. “If there’s people who have regular jobs who are coming out in the rain, in the snow, spending their hard-earned money to buy tickets to come to your shows, you don’t need this right here. I promised you, you already won,” said Drake while holding his trophy, after which he was interrupted. This could also be the reason why he does not want to be a part of the nominations. The Grammys will take place in Los Angeles in January 2022.
