2021 Billboard Music Awards has remarkable performances lined up for the night.
Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis are teaming up with Sounds Of Blackness and Ann Nesby to deliver a moving performance of their iconic song, Optimistic. They will perform remotely from the late Prince’s Paisley Park in Minneapolis, Minnesota, marking Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis’ return to their roots in the legendary city.
Pop trio AJR will make their awards show debut when they take the stage to perform their hit singles, Bang! and Way Less Sad. This will also be the Glass Animals’ first BBMA performance and first U.S. Award show. The rock group will perform their hit single, Heat Waves.
Also taking the BBMAs stage this year are previously announced acts BTS, DJ Khaled with H.E.R. and Migos, The Weeknd, Twenty One Pilots, and this year’s Icon Award recipient, P!nk. Additionally, Duran Duran will be making their performance debut at the BBMAs. The British pop-rock sensation will take the stage for the very first time, with a remote performance from London, England. The band will perform their brand-new, soon-to-be-revealed song, and will be joined by Blur’s Graham Coxon.
BTS further announced that they would be performing the world television debut of their second English-language single, Butter, at the awards show, remotely from Korea.
Drake will be honoured with ‘Artist Of The Decade’ at the upcoming Billboard Music Awards. The Scorpion rapper has broken a number of Billboard chart records, including having the most tracks in the top 10 of the Hot 100 songs chart. Drake first made his appearance on a Billboard chart in 2009 with his debut studio album, Thank Me Later, which debuted at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart the following year.
His win follows Eminem, who won for the 2000s, and Mariah Carey, who owned the ’90s. Drake also sets the bar at the Billboard Music Awards, holding the title of most BBMAs, with 27 wins. Billboard said it considers multiple factors while determining the winner of the Artist of the Decade award. They include factors such as chart performance, social media data and touring revenue. Taylor Swift came in at No. 2 on the list of Billboard’s top artists of the 2010s.
The 2021 Billboard Music Awards will be broadcasted on May 23, hosted by Nick Jonas.
