We thought the good old days when Karan Johar used to direct films and raise our expectations about love were long gone. Everyone expected the filmmaker to stick to producing films and not don the director’s hat after the failure of Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma’s Aae Dil Hai Mushkil.
He was reportedly set to direct Takht. A periodical drama starring Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Anil Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar was announced in August 2018, with shooting to being in September 2019. The film went into pre-production but has been reportedly shelved.
However, after a seven-year-long hiatus, the director is back behind the camera.

Apart from this, rumours suggest that Karan Johar will also be at the helm for an action film starring Hrithik Roshan. The two worked together 21 years ago on the multi-starrer film Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. This will be Johar’s first action film. Sources close to the development told Peeping Moon that the work on the film has already begun.
Apart from this, the filmmaker also ventured into the jewellery segment with the launch of his brand Tyaani Jewellery, stating that it is a natural extension of his creativity. With this new business, Johar aims to spring a legacy brand for Polki jewellery.
