Nawazuddin Siddiqui has been an actor in his own rights, breaking the stereotypical mould of what is expected of an actor today. Time and again he has wowed the nation and beyond as his characters come alive on the screen.
It has happened yet again with his performance for the Netflix film Serious Men. Siddiqui now stands a chance to win an Emmy. The actor has received a nomination for an International Emmy Award in the Best Actor category.
To share this information with his fans, Nawaz took to social media and wrote “Wow !!!! #SeriousMen has got me a nomination for the prestigious #InternationalEmmyAwards in the Best Actor category,” before he wrote “Congratulations Team #SeriousMen,” to the team that made it happen. “Director #SudhirMishra @sejtherage @bhavesh_mandalia @manujosephsan & last but not the least @netflix_in @netflix @iemmys.”
Sharing this post on her Instagram Stories, Kangana Ranaut wrote, “Congratulations sir. You are most definitely one of the best actors in the world.” She also added an Earth emoji with this message.
The film is based on author Manu Joseph’s 2010 novel of the same name. The project was helmed by director Sudhir Mishra. It is a story of an ambitious underachiever who capitalises on his son’s newfound fame as boy-genius to better his family’s situation.
“Working with Sudhir and playing the role of Ayyan Mani in Serious Men was a dream come true for me and the International Emmy nomination is validation of all the hard work we poured into the film. I feel honoured to portray meaningful stories that are being recognised globally – which is now a reality thanks to platforms like Netflix,” the actor said in a statement about being a part of such a project and it being received well.
Siddiqui is up against British star David Tennant (Des) as well as actors Roy Nik of Israel (Normali) and Christian Tappan of Colombia (El Robo del Siglo or The Great Heist) for this award.
