Thalapathy Vijay and Kajal Aggarwal starrer Thuppakki was one of the biggest hits of its time. The film that released in 2012 was loved by the fans so much that its director AR Murugadoss decided to make a sequel to the film. Back in May 2020, rumours suggested that Vijay and Murugadoss will reunite for the sequel, Thuppakki 2 soon. Now the latest buzz is that Kamal Haasan might replace Vijay in the film.

While we last knew that Thuppakki 2 was shelved, new reports suggest that the makers are in talks with Haasan to come on board for the film. Apart from this, it is also allegedly being said that SS Thaman will be roped in to compose music for the sequel of the film.
Talking about the 2012 released film, Thuppakki revolved around the story of an Indian army officer on a mission to track a sleeper terrorist cell. Aggarwal essayed the female lead in Thuppakki, and is said to return for the sequel as well. An official announcement from Murugadoss about the same is now awaited.
Apart from this, Kamal Haasan is currently working on his Tamil film titled Indian 2. It is the sequel to director Shankar’s and Kamal Haasan’s 1996 blockbuster film titled Indian. The sequel is directed by S. Shankar and backed by Lyca Productions. The film also boasts of an ensemble cast including Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Bobby Simha, Manobala and Nedumudi Venu among others.
As for Vijay, the actor will be seen in the Tamil film titled Beast. The action thriller marks Vijay’s first collaboration with writer-director, Nelson Dilipkumar. The film also stars actress Pooja Hegde opposite actor Vijay. Beast is expected to release on Pongal next year. The makers released the first look and the title of the film on the occasion of Vijay’s birthday on June 22. Introducing Vijay as the titular Beast, Sun Pictures tweeted, “Thalapathy 65 is Beast.” The film also marks Vijay’s fourth collaboration with Sun Pictures. They have worked together for films such as Sarkar, Vettaikaaran and Sura.
