Seeing Amitabh Bachchan on screen is always a delight, but the pandemic made his fan wait for quite a long time. After many delays, Bachchan’s much-awaited film Jhund is finally ready to take the audience to the football ground. The film will see Bachchan leading a pack of slum kids to find purpose in life through football. The makers shared the first teaser of the film which looks quite appealing.
As intriguing as the teaser is, what makes the film even more special is that is based on a real-life story. The film is inspired by the life of Vijay Barse, the founder of Nagpur-based NGO Slum Soccer, who encouraged slum kids into learning football and impacted their lives through the same.
Check Out The Jhund Teaser Below:
Who exactly is Vijay Barse, you ask? Well, Barse is a retired sports professor from the Hislop college in Nagpur. His love for football and teaching led him to train underprivileged kids in the sport. It all started when he once saw a group of poor kids playing football with a small buck. They were so invested in playing the sport that they did not care about any of the activities happening around them.
This gave him an idea to organize a tournament with some of his college friends and make the children take part in it. The year was 2001, when the slum soccer tournament in Nagpur happened, and as many as 128 teams took part in the tournament. This led to him building a football academy near Nagpur for these kids from the Rs 18 lakh he received post-retirement.
Not just that, Barse’s son, Abhijeet Barse revealed that his father also worked for cross-border peace. In 2012, he was honoured with the ‘real hero’ award by Sachin Tendulkar. In 2014, Barse also graced the first episode of Aamir Khan’s talk show, Satyamev Jayate.
Jhund is set to release on September 20th, 2022. The film will also see Sairat lead actors Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar. It also marks Sairat director, Nagraj Manjule’s Bollywood directorial debut.
