Deepika Padukone may be Bollywood’s current reigning Queen but actress Shraddha Kapoor has managed to beat her in the race to get more followers on Instagram. With 56.5 million followers, Shraddha Kapoor just became the third most followed Indian on the popular app, after Indian skipper Virat Kohli and our favourite desi girl, Priyanka Chopra.

While Kapoor has done some good work in films like Luv Ka The End, Haider, and Aashiqui 2, she has picked up some very poor roles in recent years in films that have been commercially successful but haven’t explored her range as an actress. However, with films like Baaghi, Stree, Saaho, and ABCD 2, Kapoor has established herself as one of Bollywood’s most bankable actresses.

Known in the media for her chirpy demeanour, the actress has managed to amass millions of fans. While she has been extremely active on Instagram, Shraddha Kapoor generally tends to stay away from controversy. However, she did find herself in the midst of one recently when she was interviewed by the NCB in a drug-related case which came into play following the bureau’s investigation into the Sushant Singh Rajput death case.

Alia Bhatt, who has an Instagram following of 50.1 million, is the fifth celebrity on the list and she is followed by Neha Kakkar (48.2 million). Akshay Kumar has 46.8 million followers on Instagram while Jacqueline Fernandez has 46.2 million.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also has 49.7 million followers on Instagram.

In other news, Kapoor is all set to be Bollywood’s latest Naagin. “It’s an absolute delight for me to play a naagin on screen. I have grown up watching, admiring and idolising Sridevi ma’am’s Nagina and Nigahen and always wanted to play a similar role rooted in Indian traditional folklore. It’s like playing an iconic character, which has always been so fascinating for the audience,” the actor said in a statement.

This Naagin installment will be heavy on VFX and special effects. The ‘Icchadhari Naagin’ character has been intensely fascinating for Indians and Bollywood. Ekta Kapoor’s show, Naagin, is currently on its fifth season and doesn’t appear to be stopping anytime soon.
