Stranger Things wrapped up its season finale with fans left teary-eyed over the weekend, both happy and sad. And while we’re still pondering when Vecna’s threat will come back to haunt Hawkins, the writers of the show took to Twitter to share some interesting tidbits of the current season.
Starting with the most heartbreaking one, the writers revealed that Eddie’s (Joseph Quinn) last words to Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) – “I love you, man” were completely improvised. If that doesn’t already deepen your wound then I don’t know what will.
Similarly, when Lucas is running helter-skelter trying to save Max from the after-effects of Vecna’s attacks, his heart-wrenching wail of “Erica, help” was completely improvised by Caleb McLaughlin.
Finally, the much-awaited scene between our new favourite onscreen couple Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Hopper (David Harbour), which was supposed to end in two pieces of dialogue when Joyce is having flashbacks about losing Bob (Sean Austin), and Hopper assures her that this time it’ll be different. However, the duo decided to add a more intimate scene of them kissing on the day of the filming, adding more tenderness and humanity to the moment.
Apart from all these, there’s an additional scene between Eddie and Steve (Joey Keere), where Eddie calls everyone’s favourite (future) dad Steve, a “big boy” which is also said to be improved.
Over the last few years, the Duffer brothers have assembled a talented cast of newcomers and veterans, including Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, Priah Ferguson, Cara Buono and Brett Gelman.
All of them are set to return for the fifth and final season of the show, sometime next year. Until then, we’ll be playing on loop, the most metal performance to be ever put on.
