As the Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard defamation case has been one full of shocking twists and turns, Depp’s fans have been expressing their anger towards Heard in various ways and one that gained popularity was a petition to remove the actress from Aquaman 2. It is being reported that the petition has gained more than 2 million signatures. However, Jason Momoa, has been advocating for Heard’s role to be kept in the movie.
Former producer, Kathryn Arnold, revealed that is was Momoa who ensured Heard gets to keep her role. Arnold testified in the court and claimed that the actress’s part was almost cut from Aquaman 2 because of her issues with Depp. But it was Momoa and director James Wan who were “committed to her” and were “adamant” that she is a part of the film.
DailyMail states that Arnold told the court that Heard’s character Mera had a ‘strong romantic arc the entire film and some great action sequences.’ when the first draft was made for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. She also trained five hours a day for several months to do the action sequences but the scenes had been ‘cut out’ and her role was ‘radically reduced,’ ever since she went into trial. Her fee was also negotiated.
Buzz is that Heard’s role in Aquaman has been reduced to a 10 minutes appearance. A source revealed, “I hear Amber Heard has less than 10 minutes of screentime in Aquaman 2.” Warner Bros hasn’t commented on the issue but fans have already started a new petition to cast Blake Lively as Mera. Other suggestions include Emilia Clarke, Dakota Johnson, Deborah Ann Woll and Sophie Turner.
