This time around the Grammys was all about celebrating new talents. While Jon Batiste took away maximum awards, Olivia Rodrigo and Silk Sonic also became the talk of the town. Batiste won the top prize of the night – Album of the Rear for We Are. Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak’s Silk Sonic took home three awards including best record, song of the year and R&B song at Sunday’s 64th Grammy Awards. Rodrigo, one of the first time winners, was named best new artist amongst other awards for “Sour” and her pop solo performance for her hit “Drivers License.”
It was a night of numerous stunning performances as well. Justin Bieber, BTS, Lady Gaga, Meghan Thee Stallion, Lil Nas X and others crooned their hits for the audience. The Grammys also saw some important tributes. Billie Eilish wore a T-shirt honouring the late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins while Gaga remembered Tony Bennet. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy delivered an important message at the Grammys paired with a stirring rendition of “Free” by John Legend.
The award night was a memorable one because of these small moments. What made it extra special for some artists was the fact that they bagged their first-ever Recording Academy award.
