We had a solid reason for featuring Rajkummar Rao on our May cover, and his next film only solidifies that. The actor is evidently on a spree — after essaying a gay character beautifully in Badhaai Do, he is all set to offer something new to his fans. This time, alongside Sanya Malhotra in HIT.
Rao will be seen playing the role of a cop, who has diagnosed PTSD, where Malhotra helps him navigate the past, but eventually goes missing. The two-minute-long trailer gives us a glimpse into what transpires after, and might I add, it is a visual treat to see the two of them on the screen together.
Talking about his role, Rao had previously revealed, “It’s an engaging story, relevant in today’s environment. As an actor, I am always on the lookout to play characters I haven’t explored, and HIT gives me a chance to do that. I am looking forward to taking this journey with Sailesh Kolanu and Dil Raju.” The film is based on the Telugu film of the same name, starring Vishwak Sen and Ruhani Sharma.
The trailer seems to be garnering a positive response from fans. Many took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the film. Rao has already left a mark in the industry with his stellar performances, and his chemistry with Malhotra is also being welcomed wholeheartedly. Here’s what people are saying:
Director, Kolanu previously said, “The first case of HIT tells the story of a police officer who is constantly fighting a battle with his past and his present. So it’s a troubled character. I wanted to cast someone who can bring that darkness to the role and still make the audience root for him with a matured performance. I felt Raj can evoke that kind of response. I have been following Rajkummar’s work ever since I watched Shaitaan. He is a terrific actor and has managed to surprise us every time with his performances. I am really excited to be working with him.”
Backed by Bhushan Kumar, Dil Raju, Krishan Kumar, and Kuldeep Rathore, HIT releases in theatres on July 15.
