An actor invests a lot of time building a character, and some roles played by them even become iconic. While it is not a new concept for actors to bulk up for certain roles, it is quite a challenging task for them to go through this massive transformation for their roles. Given that Bollywood stars work on different projects throughout the year, it is quite commendable to see how rigorously they work on each character and change their looks to give something fresh to the audience every time.

Actors like Ranveer Singh, Rajkummar Rao, Shahid Kapoor have gone through some really dramatic transformations for their films in the past. Today we are taking a look at five actors who impressed the audience with their new look and massive transformation.
Ranveer Singh
Singh is one of the most hardworking actors in Bollywood and we have often seen him undergo a massive transformation for his films. The boy-next-door in Band Baaja Barat, buffed up for his role as Alauddin Khilji in Padmaavat. He then went on to shed a lot of weight for Gully Boy, and then again transformed into a muscular Simmba. We then saw a change in his image as he prepped to essay a fit sportsperson in his upcoming film ’83, and this journey has been quite impressive.
Rajkummar Rao
Rao won a national award for a reason. The actor is a chameleon and can transform himself into any character effortlessly. For Vikram Motwane’s Trapped, Rao went through a major body transformation. He used to survive on two carrots and black coffee to look more like the character and continued to do so for 22 days. He then starred in Bose: Dead/Alive for which he gained 11 kilos within a month and even shaved off half his head. Rao will be seen in Badhaai Do next, and has worked rigorously for his new look in the film.
Shahid Kapoor
Kapoor had many of his female fans drooling over the massive transformation that he underwent for Kabir Singh. The actor transformed from a college boy to an alcoholic doctor quite remarkably and outdid himself. His transformation for films like Haider, Udta Punjab we’re also notable. The actor will now be seen in Jersey next, and we cannot wait to see how the the new character looks like.
Farhan Akhtar
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag was a milestone in Akhtar’s career, and his fans still talk about the body transformation that he underwent for the film. The actor trained for about 13 intense months to achieve the right body and look. His training session consisted of a six hours long rigorous exercise regime. It included altitude training, jogging, cycling, stretching, and a combination of functional training. Akhtar also did 2,500 to 3,000 crunches, 300 squats, and 100 calf raises, pull-ups, push-ups, preacher curls, cable workouts, and high knees — 10 to 15 sets of repetition in a day. His upcoming film, Toofan, also demanded him to look a certain way. He initially was required to shed weight for his ripped look and then gain 15-16 kilos for a part of the film.
Prabhas
Prabhas has become a household name after his acting stint in Baahubali. The actor was seen in a never-seen-before avatar in the film and managed to impress the audience with his massive transformation. He then quickly transformed from the beefy Amarendra Baahubali to a lean and muscular Siddhant Nandan Saaho in Sahoo. To shed 10 kilos for his character in Sahoo, Prabhas indulged himself in hour-long cardio sessions that would include swimming, cycling or playing volleyball. For his next titled Adipurush, the actor is now once again working on his body transformation.
