“When Zoya Solanki came into this world the Indian Cricket Team had created history by winning the World Cup for the very first time. Since then her father has bestowed upon her the title of Lucky Charm. Despite this title she strives in her day to day life, struggling with the smallest of things. And then happens the unthinkable. A chance encounter with Team India sets her off on a journey to become India’s Lucky Charm.”

So goes the description below the Youtube video of the official The Zoya Factor trailer. Written by Anuja Chauhan, The Zoya Factor was a massive hit when the book came out. Not only was Chauhan’s writing sparkling, but it was also witty and humorous and unlike the many other ‘chick-lit’ that flooded the Indian market.

The film stars Sonam Kapoor Ahuja and Dulquer Salmaan. The latter had made his Hindi film debut in Karwaan beside Irrfan Khan and Mithila Palkar. The Malayalam superstar recently opened up about starring in films with strong female leads.

“If I find challenging and interesting characters with female protagonists, I will be a part of such films. I get enough opportunities where I can lead a film, so when you choose films where you aren’t, it all eventually balances out. I strongly believe in good cinema and have a decent understanding of cinema. I have always chosen films that I want to watch,” he said, according to Filmfare.
