Disney+ Hotstar’s new web show The Empire, which is based on the novel Empire of the Moghul: Raiders from the North by Alex Rutherford, stars Dino Morea as the badass antagonist. A couple of weeks ago, the star shared the first look of the show and his character, Shaybani Khan, instantly impressed the audience.

Morea’s BTS video talking about his role has now been shared by the makers of the show. In the video, the actor can be seen talking about what went into getting into the skin of Shaybani Khan. Describing it as ‘dark, brutal, and savage, Morea said that everyone will fall in love with the character. Director, Mitakshara Kumar, goes on to talk about how she always wanted Dino Morea to essay the role of Shaybani Khan and is very happy with how the character has turned out to look on the screen. The actor can be seen shooting for several intriguing scenes from the show while the team talked about how they wanted to show him as a dark character like never before. Nikkhil Advani goes on to talk about how it took Morea 3-4 hours to get ready only proves his dedication to this role.

The Empire also stars Kunal Kapoor, Shabana Azmi, Drashti Dhami, Aditya Seal, Sahher Bambba, and Rahul Dev in pivotal roles. Created by Advani and directed by Kumar, the epic chronicles the legend of an empire from the valley of Ferghana to Samarkhand and beyond.

The show will revolve around the first Mughal Emperor Babur. The audience will get to see how after being who crowned as the king of Fergana at a young age and conquering Samarkand, he loses both Fergana and Samarkand to rival princes. Muhammad Shaybani enters the story only to complicate things further. In an attempt to warrant a peace settlement over Samarkand, he proposes to marry Babur’s sister Khanzada. What happens next is something the audience will get to see on August 27.
