Deepika Padukone is a global phenomenon, and there’s enough evidence of that. The actor, who needs no introduction to the Indian audience, showcased her skills in Hollywood in 2017. She has been seen on the Cannes red carpet as well. Keeping her success streak going and adding to her long list of accomplishments, is the news that the actor is now part of the Cannes Film Festival jury.
The official announcement was made on the official Twitter account of the festival. French actor Vincent Lindon will be leading the jury at the 75th edition of the festival.
Padukone, who made her Cannes Film Festival debut in 2017, shared the news with her fans by sharing a picture on social media. The picture also introduced the other jury members including Oscar-winning filmmaker Asghar Farhadi, Jeff Nichols, Rebecca Hall, Noomi Rapace, Jasmine Trinca, Ladj Ly and Joachim Trier.
About the jury, Lindon said, “It is a great honour and source of pride to be entrusted, in the midst of the tumult of all the events we are going through in the world, with the splendid, weighty task of chairing the Jury of the 75th International Cannes Film Festival.
“With my jury, we will strive to take the best possible care of the films of the future, all of which carry the same secret hope of courage, loyalty, and freedom, with a mission to move the greatest number of women and men by speaking to them of their common wounds and joys. Culture helps the human soul to rise and hope for tomorrow,” Lindon added.
As for her other projects, Deepika Padukone has a busy slate in the future. She will be seen in Shah Rukh Khan-led Pathaan, Fighter with Hrithik Roshan, an untitled movie with Prabhas, and the Hindi remake of Hollywood movie The Intern.
