Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor tied the knot in Mumbai today. The couple got married with family and close friends in attendance. While the couple has still not revealed their pictures from the wedding or spoken to the public about it, word on the block is that the rituals took place an hour ago.

2004
Bhatt openly talked about her feeling for Kapoor. In an interview, she had revealed that she met Kapoor for the first time on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Black when she was just 11. “When I first met Ranbir, I was probably 11 years old. I was very shy because I had to rest my head on his shoulder, but I couldn’t do it,” said the actress.
On her debut at Karan Johar’s Koffee With Karan Season 4, she even took Ranbir Kapoor’s name when asked during the rapid-fire round who she wants at her swayamvar.
2012
It was the year 2012 when Bhatt was promoting her debut film, Student of the Year, at a press conference. She has then said, “I have always loved Ranbir. I love him more after Barfi. He is my biggest crush and he will always be my biggest crush.” She even went on to tell Karan Johar that she wants to marry him when she had arrived on his talk show, Koffee With Karan. The actor was then dating Katrina Kaif.
2018
Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor were rumoured to be dating and they finally dropped a subtle him about it at Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja’s wedding reception in 2018. The duo posed together for photographers at the event.
Soon after this pictures went viral, Kapoor talked about the relationship in an interview with GQ. He had said, “It’s really new right now, and I don’t want to overspeak. It needs time to breathe and it needs space. As an actor, as a person, Alia is–what’s the right word–flowing right now. When I see her work, when I see her act, even in life, what she gives is something that I’m aspiring to for myself. It’s new for us, so let it cook a bit.”
Later in September, things got more concrete when Bhatt wished Kapoor happy birthday with a special post. She captioned it, “Happy Birthday Sunshine.” Kapoor’s mother, Neetu Kapoor, also made an appearance on Bhatt’s Instagram account.
2019
Bhatt talked about her relationship on KWK, and then publicly declared her love for the actor at the 2019 Filmfare awards. While accepting an award, she said, “Meghna (Gulzar), for me, Raazi is you, your blood and sweat. You are my main chick. Vicky (Kaushal), without you, the film wouldn’t be complete. Thank you, my mentor, Karan for being my mentor, father and my fashion police. Tonight is all about love, there, my special one, I love you, Ranbir.”
The two jetted off to New York to be by late Rishi Kapoor’s side who was receiving his medical treatment there.
2020
In 2020, Kapoor discussed his marriage plans during an interview. He had revealed that he’d have married the actress in 2020 had the pandemic not happened. “I want to tick mark that goal soon in my life,” Ranbir Kapoor had said back then.
2022
Alia Bhatt started talking about her wedding plans quite openly and once told NDTV, “He is right but, in my head, I am married to Ranbir, in fact, I am married to Ranbir in my head for a long time.” She also told India Today, “If you ask me honestly in terms of when I will get married, well, in my head I’m already married to him. Forget that! When I saw him for the first time on screen, that was the day I decided that I wanted to marry him. That was when I was a sweet little girl. But that’s what I meant and I feel it’s a state of mind. It’s the peace that you have in your mind, in your heart and in your relationship.”
