Power couple Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover are expecting their first child. The couple took to social media and shared a bunch of adorable pictures from a recently-shot maternity shoot, confirming the news. Basu wrote an emotional note about the journey thus far on the post. The couple looked like a dream as they flaunted the baby bump, much to the excitement of fans.
Early in March this year, rumors were rife that the couple is expecting. But Basu and Grover stayed low-key up until now. During that period, the actress posted pictures in a black dress wearing an evil eye pendant. It was reported that the couple would announce the good news soon.
Taking a peek into the timeline of their relationship, the two crossed paths on the sets of the horror film Alone in 2015, directed by Bhushan Patel. It was Grover’s Bollywood debut and Basu didn’t do any film post that. That is where the two connected and the friendship continued. In a lot of interviews, the Omkara actress has said that a strong friendship is the foundation on which their marriage is built.
In another interview, the couple talked about how their relationship progressed over time. The actress had said that until Grover proposed to her, she didn’t believe in marriages. Talking about how the proposal went Grover shared, “Let me complete the story for you. We were in Koh Samui, it was December 31, and the sky was lit with fireworks. I was carrying the ring with me, and something told me that this was the right time. So, while she was capturing the fireworks on video, I took the opportunity and gave her the ring.”
While Grover’s parents were ready to accept her, the actresses’ parents had their own set of reservations. In an interview, she said, “Failed marriage is not the sign that the human being has to be wrong. So, it’s not that they should be condemned. As for me, I explained to my parents that the kind of relationship that I had was longer and much bigger than his marriage. It’s just that I did not sign a piece of paper. So, how does it make me different from him? Relationships don’t work out, it’s unfortunate but in the long run, when you look back you are always happier. It’s always said that things happen in your life for a reason and it’s always true.”
The couple tied the knot in April 2016, as per Bengali rituals. They also hosted a reception party where quite a few Bollywood celebs were in attendance.
