It’s official: Barbie Ferreira has decided to quit Euphoria ahead of its third season. The actress, who essayed the role of Kat/Katherine Hernandez on the show, announced her departure via an emotional Instagram story. Fans were heartbroken upon learning that they would not be seeing Ferreira in the upcoming season.
“After four years of getting to embody the most special and enigmatic character Kat, I’m having to say a very teary-eyed goodbye. I hope many of you could see yourself in her as I did and that she brought you joy to see her journey into the character she is today. I put all my care and love into her and I hope you guys could feel it. Love you, Katherine Hernandez,” she wrote.
Fans often questioned why her storyline kept getting pushed into the background in Season 2, so the news, as disheartening as it was, was taken in a positive manner. Many further opined that she is an exceptional actress and her character deserved more screen time than what was offered in the second season. People tweeted in response to the news and wished her luck for future projects.
Here’s How Fans Reacted:
Earlier, rumors of on-set tension between the actress and show creator Sam Levinson had taken over the headlines. Ferreria once even walked away from the sets after an argument with Levinson. Despite the actress refuting the same, fans continue to feel that this could also be one of the reasons that led to her exit.
“I really think that the fans are really passionate and I do appreciate that because Euphoria has really impacted so many people. Sometimes, things take on a life of their own, and they’re not rooted in the truth, but it’s okay because I know it’s just out of passion and out of curiosity and all that good stuff. And I signed up for it. So, I’ll take it. I’ll take the good and the bad,” she told Insider.
Apart from Euphoria , Ferreira proved her worth with her work in projects like the HBO Max film Unpregnant and her stint in Jordan Peele’s film Nope. Fans cannot wait to see what’s next on the work front for the actress.
