Arijit Singh has a massive fan base, and it clearly shows — on Spotify or even otherwise. The 35-year-old Indian singer and composer’s unforgettable numbers like Tum Hi Ho and Chahun Main Ya Naa, earned him unfathomable fame and adulation.
In 2020 and 2021, Singh became the most streamed Indian artist and also the most followed Asian soloist as per Spotify. And well, history repeats itself. In a new list released by Spotify, which has a top 10 list of the most followed artists of the world, Singh secured the 7th position beating names like Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, and BTS!
Ed Sheeran, rules the roost, and the list in this case, by being in the number one position.
Here’s What The List Looks Like:
A Reddit thread kickstarted the conversation, and the conspiracy theories and reactions were hilarious, to say the least.
Singh started recording Hindi songs in 2011. Predominantly known for his soulful Bollywood renditions, he has experimented quite a bit too. For example, he sang Aaja Nachle in the Hindi version of High School Musical in 2007, and then he has given voice to many TV shows like Power Couple and Naamkarann.
In an interview with a radio channel, Singh once revealed how he hasn’t really stuck to a figure as far as his commercials are concerned, and is okay with whatever his work gets him.
In another interview with a publication, Singh averred how he’s a fan of many seniors in the Indian music industry. “Ustad Amir Khan Sahab, Ustad Rashid Khan Sahab, Ravi Shankar, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan Sahab are the names that come to the top of my mind. In the popular music scenario, I love Kishore Kumar, Hemant Mukherjee, Lata Mangeshkar. In more recent times I’ve loved Jagjit Singh, Sonu Nigam – they are my idols. KK, Atif and Papon are my current favourites. From the West – Robin Williams, John Legend and John Mayer,”
