Actor Ali Fazal has been nominated in the Best Actor category at the Asia Content Awards by the Busan International Film Festival.
The Bollywood actor has received this nomination in the Best Actor category for his portrayal of Ispit Nair in Forget Me Not segment of the Ray anthology on Netflix.
Helmed by director Srijith Mukherji, the story is a contemporary retelling of Satyajit Ray`s story Bipin Babur Smriti Bhransha. Fazal, in this retelling, has been seen portraying a cut-throat corporate shark who has the memory of a machine and never forgets a thing.
“Wow! This was totally unexpected. I am so humbled to receive this nomination and it means a lot to be recognized by ACA. A lot of great content was produced this year in Asia and to land a nomination amongst such an impressive line-up of films and actors is an honour,” said Fazal about his nomination.
The producer of the show, and Andrea Chung and Fazal’s Fiancée, Richa Chadda, both took to Twitter to congratulate the actor on this acknowledgement of his talent.
The show, Ray, has also earned itself a nomination in the Best Original OTT series category. The anthology consisted of four of Ray’s stories which were adapted by filmmakers Srijit Mukherji, Vasan Bala and Abhishek Chaubey.
Another talent to have been recognised at these awards is Nushrratt Bharuccha, who has bagged herself a nomination for Best Actress for her performance in Ajeeb Daastaans.
Ali Fazal, the team of Ray and Bharuccha all stand a chance to win awards at the third iteration of the Asian Contents Awards (ACA), which is run by the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF)’s Asian Contents and Film Market (ACFM). The aim of ACA is to showcase outstanding TV, OTT, and online content created in Asia.
The event is scheduled to take place on October 7, both virtually and in-person, as a hybrid event, part of the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea.
