Akshay Kumar has always put his foot forward when it comes to helping the needy. In the dire times of the Covid-19 pandemic, where everyone is struggling for the basic amenities, Kumar has pledged a sum of Rs 1 crore to cricketer Gautam Gambhir’s Delhi-based NGO, Gautam Gambhir Foundation. The sum will help people who are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 39-year-old cricketer thanked Kumar in a tweet, saying, “Every help in this gloom comes as a ray of hope. Thanks a lot Akshay Kumar for committing ₹ 1 crore to Gautam Gambhir Foundation for food, meds and oxygen for the needy! God bless.” The Laxmmi Bomb actor replied to Gambhir and tweeted, ” “These are really tough times, Gautam Gambhir. Glad I could help. Wish we all get out of this crisis soon. Stay Safe.” The actor had also contracted the virus earlier in April.

Earlier, Kumar had donated Rs 25 crore to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s relief fund for COVID-19. “This is that time when all that matters is the lives of our people. And we need to do anything and everything it takes. I pledge to contribute Rs 25 crores from my savings to @narendramodi ji’s PM-CARES Fund. Let’s save lives, Jaan hai toh jahaan hai,” the actor had tweeted at that time.
Workwise, Akshay Kumar had kickstarted shooting for Ram Setu before he contracted the virus. The actor admitted to the hospital for treatment, and he returned home after a week. The actor will now resume shooting for the film soon. A report suggested that around 45 crew members had tested positive for the virus. While 40 of them were junior artists, five people were from Kumar’s team. The film also stars Jacqueline Fernandez and
Nushrratt Bharuccha in key roles.
He also has Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi, followed by Bachchan Pandey, Bell Bottom and Prithviraj.
