HUBLOT YELLOW GOLD COLLECTION

Leading the charge of reintroducing Yellow Gold into the current watch environment is Hublot. Born out of the love for the shiny yellow material, the new Yellow Gold collection from Hublot features Classic Fusion, Big Bang, and Spirit of Big Bang. These are made entirely from yellow gold and rubber combinations that saw a resurgence around 40 years ago.

Each of these models represent a part of the manufacturer’s history and how it is moving forward. The Classic Fusion Chronograph is inspired by the Classic Original of 1980, and also marks the first time the watch is produced in a 42mm case size. The Big Bang series houses three versions of the 40mm Big Bang Integral, and a 42mm Big Bang UNICO timepiece. Completing the entire Yellow Gold series is the tonneau-shaped Spirit of Big Bang.

BREGUET 7145 CLASSIQUE

Breguet celebrates the Year of the Tiger with a new eight-piece limited edition Classique timepiece. With this new piece of horology, Breguet combines the art of guilloche with engraving to bring us a beautifully created dial that adorns a great cat depicted as approaching. The dial motif is developed in three stages, beginning with the engraving and bas relief technique (carving motifs in tiny dimensions). These sculpted sections are then coloured in black to give the motif depth and contrast. Finally, the guilloché technique completes the entire process.

Apart from the beautifully created Tiger motif on the dial, the watch still features the classic traits of a Breguet Classique timepiece. It includes the engraved logo between 7 and 8 o’clock and the blued steel open-tipped Breguet hands. The 40mm case crafted in 18K rose gold houses the ultra-thin automatic 502.3 calibre at its heart. This 162-component movement beats at a frequency of 3 Hz and has a 45-hour power reserve.

BLANCPAIN TRADITIONAL CHINESE CALENDAR

Blancpain celebrates the 2022 Chinese New Year by unveiling a new edition of the Traditional Chinese Calendar. Faithful to the design code of the Villeret Collection, the watch comes in a 45mm platinum case with a white Grand Feu enamel dial featuring the lunisolar calendar.

The white Grand Feu enamel dial houses both the Traditional Chinese calendar (a complication exclusively developed by Blancpain) and the Gregorian calendar and a moon phase display. The Traditional Chinese Calendar offers traditional double-hour indications, signs of the zodiac (the oscillating weight engraved with the Tiger seen via the sapphire caseback), date and month of the Chinese calendar, the five elements, the ten celestial stems, and the leap month. The rest of the dial features a chapter ring made of gold appliques and a blued serpentine hand that marks the date on the Gregorian. The 50-piece limited edition Traditional Chinese Calendar model comes equipped with the automatic 3638 manufacture movement.

JAEGER-LECOULTRE REVERSO TRIBUTE ENAMEL TIGER

The swivelling case of the Reverso had proven to be an ingenious solution to the problem of protecting the dial and glass of the watch back in 1931. Since then, the blank caseback has been a canvas for artistic expression and customisation. For 2022, Jaeger-LeCoultre unveils its latest iteration of the Reverso, dedicated to the Chinese New Year of the Tiger.

The Reverso Tribute Enamel Tiger features a majestic tiger on the reverse side of the Reverso case. Engraved in a pink gold case material, the beautifully decorated tiger seems to leap out into the open from its black opaque Grand Feu enamel background. The polished surface of the tiger’s coat and the contrasting rhodium-brushed texture of its stripes catches and reflects light to create the illusion of movement and power that took a total of 55 working hours to complete.

The watch comes in a 45.5mm pink gold case with an opaque black Grand Feu enamel dial with its signature Reverso Tribute aesthetics of faceted appliqué hour-markers, chemin de fer minutes track, and Dauphine hands. Specially created to celebrate the Chinese Zodiac Year, the Reverso Tribute Enamel ‘Tiger’ is made only to order and offers personalisation via different enamel colours.

ZENITH DEFY REVIVAL A3642

The year 1969 was an important year for Zenith and the world of watchmaking. It was the year that Zenith introduced the El Primero calibre and the first DEFY model to the world. This year, Zenith returns to form with its new DEFY Revival A3642 — a revival of the very first DEFY model from 1969. The original DEFY A3642, fittingly nicknamed ‘coffre-fort’ in French, meaning bank-vault or safe-deposit box, was set with a bold, octagonal case paired with a fourteen-sided bezel. The same aesthetics are now present in the 2022 edition.

Limited to just 250 pieces, the DEFY Revival A3642 is reproduced in stunningly accurate details of the original 1969 model. The 37mm stainless steel case, set with a warm grey dial, houses unusual applied square hour markers with horizontal grooves. Additionally, the sword-shaped hands combined, with the paddle-shaped seconds hands, are reminiscent of the Zenith watches from the same era. The sapphire caseback (one of the main differences between the two watches) showcases the automatic Elite 670 manufacture movement operating at a frequency of 4 Hz and delivering a power reserve of 50 hours.

PANERAI LUMINOR MARINA QUARANTA

Panerai releases its latest edition of the classic Luminor Marina — the Luminor Marina Quaranta. Available in a stainless-steel case with three different dial colours, the all-new Luminor Marina Quaranta offers a solid aesthetic identity that Panerai watches are famous for. This special watch comes in a 40mm case size, making it the smallest of the Luminor Marina models in production. This smaller case size allows the watch to cater to a broader cosmopolitan audience by achieving an equilibrium of elegance and casual confidence.

The collection is available in three dial colours; blue, black, and white. All three of these versions display a seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock and a date window at 3 o’clock. Each watch comes strapped to alligator leather straps coordinated according to the dial colour. These include a matte white dial with straps in black alligator and deep brown calf (PAM01271), a matte black dial paired with black alligator and black calf straps (PAM01272), and a sun-brushed blue dial with a navy blue alligator strap and second in tobacco calf (PAM01270). The new models are powered by the thin automatic winding P.900 calibre movement with a three-day power reserve.

LOUIS VUITTON TAMBOUR HORIZON LIGHT UP SMARTWATCH

Pegged as one of the most exclusive and creative smartwatches, the Louis Vuitton Tambour Horizon Light Up marks the French Maison’s third-generation connected watch. Offering a slew of never-seen- before levels of customisation and personalisation (from watch faces or custom-made operating systems), the Tambour Horizon Light Up is a reimagined, redesigned, and reengineered piece of horology.

The watch brings together the world of technology and horology seamlessly. It is set in the original convex case structure of the Tambour collection with a curved sapphire glass that acts as the watch’s screen. Over its smooth edge sit 24 LED lights that light up the signature Louis Vuitton Monogram ring every time the watch is activated or receives a notification. The watch houses eight built-in dial configurations with a operating system that delivers a high intuitive experience. The new collection is available in a trio of finishes, including polished stainless steel, matte brown, and a two-tone edition of matte black with titanium crown and lugs. The watch is compatible with Android and Harmony OS smartphones.

OMEGA SPEEDMASTER CANOPUS GOLD 321

OMEGA kicked off the year with a new Speedmaster Calibre 321 crafted in the brand’s new 18K Canopus Gold material. Inspired by the first Speedmaster CK2915-1, which was first launched in 1957, the 2022 version, with its 38.6mm case made of 18K Canopus Gold, marks the collection’s 65th anniversary. The 18K Canopus Gold used to create the 2022 Speedmaster Calibre 321 is OMEGA’s own exclusive white gold alloy distinguished by its high brilliance, whiteness, and longevity. Working perfectly against the 18K Canopus Gold is the deep black onyx dial housing applied vintage OMEGA logo reminiscent of the first CK2915 models. But what stands out the most about this new Speedmaster is the Calibre 321 movement working within. The presence of the Calibre 321 gives the watch a direct connection to the Speedmaster’s heritage.

The OMEGA Speedmaster Calibre 321 watch is available on an 18K Canopus Gold bracelet with a comfort release adjustment system, and presented in a special wooden box.

The House of Gucci celebrates the Year of the Tiger with the Gucci Tiger. The new collection includes a wide range of ready-to-wear accessories featuring various renditions of the animal. This design aesthetic has been a mainstay of Creative Director Alessandro Michele’s collection, and reflects his fascination with nature.

The new print is a reinterpretation of a late 1960s archival design by Vittorio Accornero, the artist and illustrator who created the House’s signature Flora design. For 2022, the artist depicts the tiger against a colourful backdrop of greenery and flowers in a pastel palette. This print is presented across the different product ranges of the House of Gucci, including their stylish timepieces. The unique timepiece features the new pattern in an eco-friendly way.
