TAG Heuer’s motorsports inspired Formula 1 collection was first launched in 1986 and has, since then, been a huge hit with F1 fans around the world. There have been several new additions to the F1 collection over the years, and this year, four new watches have been added to the line-up. In tangerine orange and lime yellow, which are inspired by the vibrant motorsports colours of the 1980s and the ’90s, the new F1 watches look cooler than ever before.

The TAG Heuer name has been associated with F1 since 1968 when Jack Heuer first signed on to sponsor Swiss racing driver Jo Siffert. The watch company’s association with F1 has been going strong for more than five decades, with TAG Heuer being one of the most visible, most recognisable names in the sport. And after all these years, TAG Heuer still has a strong presence in F1; the company supports the Red Bull Racing F1 team, is the official timekeeper of the Monaco Grand Prix and is a long-standing sponsor of the Automobile Club de Monaco.

When it was first launched in 1986, TAG Heuer’s Formula 1 collection went for disruptive design, combining a steel case, quartz movement and vibrant, colourful rubber straps to create an F1-inspired watch that fans loved. That passion for motorsports inspired watches continues with the four new additions to the F1 collection – three chronographs and a three-hands model. The new timepieces come with a 43mm steel case, ceramic bezel, dials with a surface that mimics the texture of asphalt and choice of either a steel bracelet or a black nylon strap, which mirrors the design of the harness found inside an F1 racing car.

Some notable highlights of the new watches in the F1 collection include a black ceramic fine brushed tachymeter fixed bezel, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, black PVD steel screw-down crown and steel screw-down case back, with 200m water resistance. Depending on the model, there’s orange or yellow applied indexes, along with white ‘Super-LumiNova’ luminous coating, which is also present on the hands. The Swiss quartz movement is highly reliable and offers consistently accurate timekeeping.

TAG Heuer’s official motto, ‘Don’t Crack Under Pressure,’ is accurately reflected in the watches in the company’s F1 collection; these are built to perform and built to last while conveying the style, glamour and excitement of Formula 1 racing. The late, great Ayrton Senna, who was also a TAG Heuer brand ambassador, used to say, ‘I am not designed to come second or third. I am designed to win. Racing is in my blood.’ The same can also, perhaps, be said of TAG Heuer’s Formula 1 collection of watches.
