Although tie-dye has been a hot trend since 2018 internationally, it boomed in India around 2020, with the trend trickling down to Indian streetwear brands last year. Today, there are a bunch of young labels who are riding the tie-dye wave very successfully, giving their own interesting spins, and creating top-notch apparel. COUP has created a range of hand-dyed sweatshirts with natural plant dyes like madder and indigo, following the country’s oldest dyeing traditions. Commendable. The Clothing Factory is working with Indian craftspeople to create cool streetwear with tie-dye varieties. The Tie-dye denim jacket is definitely a must-grab. Urban Monkey has been around for a while now, and have been doing some kickass work with tie-dye across apparel and accessories, and follow a genderless aesthetic, which is so refreshing. Bonkers is creating cheerful oversized tie-dye basics that are wardrobe essentials this spring-summer. And, lastly, Huedee, a brand that has been exclusively tie-dye since inception, and has been creating unique patterns for streetwear silhouettes.

With some cool new drops, there’s a lot streaming across platforms to make sure you don’t have to step out of the house (mask up if you do). The second edition of Putham Pudhu Kaalai Vidiyaadaa, the much-beloved and critically-acclaimed Tamil anthology of short stories, is streaming on Amazon Prime. Led by five young and original directors, the films have the same inspiring quality of the first collection, celebrating human resilience during uncertain times.

The Jennifer Hudson-starrer Aretha Franklin biopic, Respect, is finally out, and it is definitely a must-stream for Aretha fans. The music is spectacular, with Hudson doing what she does best — belting it out, loud and proud. Also on Amazon Prime.

Archive 81 is a spooky new supernatural thriller series on Netflix about a video archivist who comes across a demonic cult while restoring a set of damaged tapes. It is creepy, masterfully macabre, and will keep you up at night. But if you were missing some high-school suspense and drama (when will Elite come back with the next season?), Netflix’s Rebelde, a slick new Mexican series about hazing, hatred, and a high school band, is a juicy new binge. Great cast, good music, and obviously, a ton of drama, the show’s already been picked up for another season.One of the hottest Oscar contenders for this year, George Clooney’s The Tender Bar, starring Ben Affleck, is out on Amazon Prime, and it is a heart wrenching tear-jerker that explores male relationships and emotional intimacy, with Affleck delivering a career-headlining performance.
