FYI, regular facials are long over. As the grooming industry ups its game from the five-in-one product to tech-based facials, dermatologists and skin experts list the treatments worth trying
Definisse Threadlift
What: These are non-surgical double-needle threads that give a defined angular facelift without surgery. A certified dermatologist will place the threads under the skin with no incisions or cuts. The threads act like an umbrella to lift up the lax sagging skin, help to contour the jawline and cheek at a younger age, and reposition sagging skin at an older age. It is a single-session procedure and depending on the concern and clinical requirement, multiple threads are placed under the skin. Men between 30 to 60 years with mild to moderate degrees of skin sagging or ill-defined features commonly undergo it. Popular areas are the jawline and neck, explains Dr. Madhuri Agarwal, founder, and director of Yavana Skin Aesthetics.
How long does it last: The results last for 12-18 months. You can see an immediate lift, and the complete results are seen in.
Skin Boosters
What: Skin boosters can be used by anyone since hyaluronic acid has a moisturizing impact rather than a filling effect. These are very fine microinjections put in the skin’s superficial layers. It can be used on any skin type and at any age to give you bright skin, suggests Dr. Geetika Mittal Gupta, aesthetic physician and founder of ISAAC Luxe.
How long does it last: Up to nine months.
Derma Fillers
What: Many men suffer from undereye hollows and dark circles as the sensitive skin darkens in response to stress. A cannula is used to inject derma fillers manufactured from hyaluronic acid into the tissue beneath your eye. The hyaluronic acid in derma fillers fills in the weak areas around the eyes, resulting in the disappearance of undereye hollows and dark circles. A painless process that takes only minutes to execute, it only needs to be done once a year to achieve long-term results, recommends Dr Mittal.
How long does it last: A year.
Micro-needling Radio Frequency
What: Micro-needling and intradermal radiofrequency (MNRF) is a popular treatment in males for acne scars and open pores with coarse skin. This uses a combination of multiple microneedles that create injury in the skin and deliver radiofrequency at the same time that in turn stimulates new collagen and elastin production. This process leads to healthier, toned skin with a reduction in scars. Men above 18 years of age can do this for acne scars/marks, and those above 30 years of age after years can try it for skin tightening and texture improvement, suggests Dr. Agarwal.
How long does it last: The treatment requires 4-6 sessions done one month apart, and results are visible in 2-3 months.
Pmma Fillers
What: PMMA is a semi-permanent filler that is commonly used to treat medium-to-deep wrinkles, folds, and furrows, especially nasolabial folds. It can also be used to conceal pitted scars and to plump up thin lips. It frequently replaces collagen replacement therapy or hyaluronic therapy when a more permanent solution to facial wrinkles is desired. For many years, PMMA has been used in permanent surgical implants, so as a result, your surgeon will most likely underfill the first treatment, adding more later on, if necessary. One disadvantage of PMMA is that it requires multiple injections to create volume, and it can take up to three months to see the full effects, suggests Dr. Noopur Jain.
How long does it last: Five years.
